Homeschool Math Curriculum Options

You could have a lot of choices when you start looking for homeschool math curriculum for your child. There are several different companies that put out some really good books. But when it comes down to the final decision there are a few things to keep in mind.
First off your child will not have a teacher to explain all these things from the book to them. So you will need to get a book that is easy enough for them to understand.
With that being said you will have to consider what level of study your student is on, before you choose an appropriate homeschool math curriculum.
Here are a few of the more popular choices out three when it comes to homeschool math curriculum that you may want to pick. First a harder level of math can be found with the Singapore math curriculum. It’s more of a mental math than anything else, so use this for those higher level students.
Next would be Math-U-See, this is a way that you can have your child learn by seeing the concepts set out easily first. There are videos that will come along with this program choice.
Another would be a program that is set up for younger aged children, Miquon Math. This can be used for grades first through third and is a very good setup, but if your child needs a lot of repetition it will not work well.
To pick one of these or other choices that you have, you need to find out if the curriculum is spiral or mastery based. With spiral programs they will be mostly exercises and reviews, a very short quick program that may not be enough for some children to learn the concepts.
Mastery based is more in depth and will help your child learn the concepts and also review. So figure out in which manner you would like your child to learn. Of course the cost is going to be a big deal for many parents when the final decision is made so compare those as well.
